Annoyed
In the paper today were two items that just make me sick. No, not the listing for “Joey” but the inclusion of two articles dedicated to the new moral Amerikkka. One is an update on the Indecency Bill that passed through the House yesterday with flying colors. This new bill allows the government to fine individual broadcasters up to $500k for each act “they (the govt)” deam offensive. Of course the line of what is considered acceptable is sagging lower than Tara Reid’s breasts and as blurry as her Friday night boozefest so how are broadcasters to keep up? Don’t fret folks, the maximum fine per day is only $3million. House Representative Fred Upton (R-MI) said, “Our children will be better off for it.” Apparently the next bill being proposed is to reinstall public book burnings and right behind that bill is one condoning genocide. I’ve already started stocking up on embroidery thread for all the Scarlet Letter’s that will be dolled out.
The second and equally as frightening story was about PBS President and CEO, Pat Mitchell, announcing that she will step down from her post as head of PBS in 2006 because of increased pressure and misconduct accusations surrounding her funding the show “Postcards from Buster.” As you know, “PFB” has been in the news because our little cartoon bunny friend Buster traveled to Vermont to explore and learn about Maple Syrup. While on his travels, Buster happened upon two lesbian couples, each raising families and living as normal productive and educated members of society. Many family organizations from the RED have complained and now Congress is saying that PBS misused the public education funds they received by promoting such lifestyles. This makes me sick to my stomach. I just can’t deal with this administration and the delusional moral high ground this country is heading down.
