It's 12:41, Do You Know What I Am Listening To?

Concrete Blonde
Recollection: The Best of

Before they got all Aztech Earth Mother on me, Concrete Blonde was a seminal part of the late 80's alternative. They were essential to my crossing over from pop to anything near alternative when I was entering High School. Before hardcore/sxe (for me) was 80's Alt Rock (Sonic Youth, Husker Du, Janes Addiction, The Replacements, Soul Asylum, The B52's, The Cure, depeche mode, etc.) and Conrete Blonde was the first show I ever saw at Lost Horizons (I think). They played a free show at the Lost when I was like 15 and they just rocked. I love girls that kick ass and look as if they could kill you with one glance and Jeanette Napolitano has that look.

Shaun of the Dead

I've been waiting for this film to come out since the dawn of man, or at least it was announced on Aint It Cool and BloodyDisgusting.com. Now we finally have a release date in the U.S. (Sept 24). This will be the best film of 2004!

Amber Alert

So I heard my first live Amber Alert on the radio this afternoon. It's kind of scary to hear. It comes in the form of that horribly obnoxious buzzing noise that is followed by a State Trooper informing the public of who is missing and all the information involved. I know I live in a big city, but having grown up in small town suburbia it instantly kicked in this small town mentality where this girl needs to be found, let's form a human chain and dredge the lake. Call out the dogs, let's do street by street sweeps.
Then they said she was not a little kid and that she (now being a late teen)left with 2 possible gangs members and I was like, eh... And we're back in the big city.

It's 12:45pm, Do You Know What I Am Listening To?

10,000 Maniacs
MTV Unplugged

This brings me back to the Euclid apartment up at S.U. circa '93 and Lori. My word we listened to this album alooooot. Probably before and after the infamous bathtub incident that sparked so many rumors.

Big Bugs, Oh My!

First of all, yesterday was the most perfect day we've had in years here in the Greater Boston area. It was only mid 70's with no humidity. Brilliant day. So Jon and I took forever to find this nook in the woods, but after about an hour we found...
THE GARDEN IN THE WOODS - BIG BUGS!
Located in Framingham, in the middle of a quiet neighborhood is this park, The Garden in the Woods. It's a beautiful and serene place to start with, but right now there is an exhibit there called "Big Bugs." It is a 10 piece installation spread throughout the woods of huge wooden bugs. They are made of beautiful wood and stragetically placed to mesh in with the natural environment. It's so much fun to see these huge bugs. Please go see it if possible.

Also when we were there, I ran into this girl Carrie, that is friends with my friend Zach. She used to be roommates with Zach back when we all lived in Buffalo. It was a nice run-in. She's funny.

Go Brad Go!

My friend Brad (a friend since my first AIDS Ride in 2002) is currently on his way to Boston from Montreal. His ride is a 450 mile, 5 day event from Montreal to Boston. It sounds amazing. I wish him luck and cannot wait to hear his horror/success stories. You rule Brad!

Post Ride Wrap-Up

It rained like a bitch on my otherwise grand ride. For the latest recap and some pictures please click on the colorful dots of this subject heading. Please let me know if the daily recaps are not loading right for you. On my Mac, both in Safari and Internet Explorer it worked perfectly but at work it didnt show the whole page. Please email me and let me know if it's no good and I apologize in advance.

Shout out to all my bitches and ho's. Pimp Daddy loves ya!

Whirlpool - Liquid Glass
The song "Cindy Crawford Pumpkin" is still one of the best male/female dual vocal post hardcore songs ever recorded.

Weather Rides Again

All I have to say is that if I have to do this AIDS Ride in the pouring rain again I am going to be one pissed off person. weather.com is predicting t-storms for Friday. accuweather.com is predicting possible rain showers. boston.com is predicting possible rain. Who can tell. I guess its too early to know, but mark my words... there will be nothing but piss and vinegar if I am on a bike for 10 hours in the monsoon of 2004. PISSED!

And in other ride news, it looks like I may be stranded in Salem come the end of the ride Sunday. Yeah, as of Monday I have no ride back to Boston. That's a real treat!

BABIES!

"Baby... The Other, Other White Meat!" - Fat Bastard

Apparently its the end of mating season. My brother Sean and his wife Lisa just had a baby girl named Madison Rose. It's so odd that my little brother has a kid. Those brothers of mine looooove having kids. I think we may soon find out if it really is Cheaper By The Dozen.

And in BREAKING NEWS, our friends Anne and Lisa are as I type in labor. Good lordy! Baby on Board!

Open Water

I JUST SCORED FREE PASSES TO A SCREENING OF 'OPEN WATER.' Which if you know me, you know I've been waiting for almost a year to see. I remember reading about it in Independent Filmmaker magazine forever and a year ago and instantly intrigued because the actors were dumb enough to film with live sharks, jellyfish, etc. in the open ocean without a net. HELLO!

Can't wait.

You're so jealous, I know!

It's 11:19am Do You Know What I'm Listening To?

Story of the Year
Page Avenue

It's popular with the high school set but that doesn't mean that it's not good old rockin' post-hardcore screamo! Truly enjoy this album.
